What the records contain / DOL & NCES IPEDS disclosures

What XH1B calculates / Comparisons & market benchmarks

How to read these figures

The institution comparison uses stored employer cohorts linked by EIN. Each row states its wage basis. The prevailing-wage comparison includes all LCA statuses and visa classes. The offered-wage comparison includes certified H-1B filings, including withdrawn certifications. Rankings and combined counts require one verified basis. Both use instructional occupations, year units and a $20,000 to $1,000,000 range on their stated wage. The separate filing and occupation tables keep their own stated cohorts. IPEDS reports the campus-wide instructional salary reference. A filing does not confirm a hire or paycheck.

Definitions & methodology ↗

Each comparison states its wage basis. The prevailing-wage comparison includes all LCA statuses and visa classes. The offered-wage comparison includes certified H-1B filings, including withdrawn certifications. Both use SOC 25-1 occupations, annual wage units and a $20,000 to $1,000,000 range on their stated wage measure. Rankings and combined comparisons require one verified basis. Filings are not verified hires or payroll.

Calculated · DOL LCA × IPEDS · 4 employer records

Filed wages against each campus's own instructional-pay record.

Compare each linked employer cohort with the campus-wide average salary for all instructional staff (IPEDS SAL_IS, all ranks). Each row states its stored wage basis. Jobs, ranks, workloads, contract periods and years can differ. Each row is one matched employer record; several records can link to the same campus.

One row per matched employer record. Each row states its stored wage basis: all-status prevailing wages or certified H-1B offered wages, including withdrawn certifications. Both use instructional SOC 25-1 occupations, year units and the stated wage from $20,000 to $1,000,000. Several employer records can link to one campus. Mixed or unknown measures cannot be ranked.

Source records · DOL LCA · 30 roles

Instructional roles filed under, and their wage floors.

Certified filings by postsecondary-teacher occupation. The median is the filed prevailing wage, the DOL wage floor for the role, set against the BLS national median, not the employer's offered amount. This cohort retains Year-unit offers. Prevailing wages use their stored annual value or their own Year-unit value when it is absent.

Source records · DOL LCA · 345 certified filings

Instructional H-1B filings in Delaware.

How the county comparison is calculated

The map compares the median prevailing wage on certified instructional LCAs in each county with the BLS national median for postsecondary teachers. It is a calculated comparison of filing records and a market benchmark. It does not identify an individual's faculty rank, workload, or confirmed employment. Year-unit offers remain required. Prevailing wages use their stored annual value or their own Year-unit value when it is absent, from $20,000 through $1,000,000.

Sources & joins

What each measure reads.

  • DOL OFLC LCA · certified H-1B applications for postsecondary-teacher occupations (SOC 25-1000–25-1999), annual wage basis
  • NCES IPEDS SAL_IS · instructional-staff salary outlays by rank, joined to employer records by EIN
  • BLS OES · national medians for postsecondary teaching occupations (25-1011 through 25-1199)

Limits

How to read these figures.

Measure bases differ. The offered median is the employer-certified offer on instructional filings. The faculty roles table and the map use the filed prevailing wage, the DOL wage floor. The campus comparison divides by what the institution reports paying all instructional staff. The three are not interchangeable.

A filing records an offer and an employer assertion, not a payroll or a confirmed hire. Institution membership comes from the EIN join; K-12 districts have no coverage in this vertical.

Questions about the data & methods

How many certified H-1B instructional filings are on record in Delaware?

345 certified H-1B labor condition applications for postsecondary teaching roles are on record in Delaware, per Department of Labor disclosure data. This dataset counts DOL LCAs, not USCIS Form I-129 petitions, so it does not show whether any petition was approved. The cohort covers all employers, Year-unit offers and annual prevailing wages from $20,000 to $1,000,000. Certified includes withdrawn certifications.

What wages do certified H-1B instructional filings in Delaware offer?

The median wage offered on certified H-1B instructional filings in Delaware is $91,860 per year. That is 9% above the BLS postsecondary reference ($84,290). This is an unweighted median of national occupation medians or means from the latest national survey year, not a filing-year-paired wage median.

Are any Delaware universities exempt from the H-1B lottery?

2 employer records in Delaware link to campuses marked cap-exempt. This count measures matched employer records, not distinct campuses. Check the campus and employer records for the exemption basis.
