How to read these figures

The strip counts applications by submission year: filings filed in 2026, all outcomes. Workers requested is what the employer asked for; a filing is not a confirmed hire.

The table below filters by DOL decision date instead, so its totals differ slightly from the strip. The median offered wage is calculated across the year's filings with a usable annual wage: half offered more, half less. Each row's wage badge compares the offer with the BLS median for the occupation, signed below or above that benchmark.

A negative % sits below the BLS market median; a positive % sits above.

A DOL filing is not a visa issuance and not observed employment: each record is what an employer filed and what DOL certified or denied.

Questions about the data & methods

H-1B filings FAQ

How many H-1B filings were decided in 2026?

124,454 labor condition applications were decided in 2026, per DOL OFLC disclosure records. The full archive holds 8,768,100 filings.

What does each filing record show?

The case number, employer, occupation, worksite, offered wage, the DOL prevailing wage it was measured against, workers requested, and the adjudication outcome. Every field comes from the employer's own filing in the DOL disclosure file.

Can I filter filings by outcome?

Yes: certified, certified-withdrawn, withdrawn, and denied. These are DOL labor condition application outcomes. Certification does not establish USCIS petition approval or an actual hire. A denial does not by itself establish why DOL rejected the application. Use the outcome controls to inspect each group.

How does a filing get through the H-1B lottery?

A cap-subject hire passes four steps: the employer registers the candidate in March, USCIS selects (weighted by wage level starting FY2027), the employer files the certified LCA and Form I-129 inside a 90-day-plus window, and USCIS approves. The lottery guide walks the full season with the published USCIS numbers.
